USCIS announced it would immediately resume premium processing for some cap-exempt H-1B petitions starting July 24, 2017. Premium processing for most H-1B petitions is still suspended, however.

The H-1B petitions which can be filed with premium processing include only those filed by:

• An institution of higher education;
• A nonprofit affiliated with or related to an institution of higher education; &
• A nonprofit research or governmental research organization.

USCIS did not provide a date for when premium processing will resume for all other H-1B petitions, but said it will do so “when workloads permit.”
