Rie Ohta

Rie Ohta has wide-ranging experience in both family-based and employment-based immigration matters, as well as complex cases involving waivers of inadmissibility, criminal grounds of inadmissibility, and naturalization. She is dedicated to guiding clients through every step of the immigration process with care and clarity. She takes the time to understand each client’s story and goals, and works closely with them to build strong, tailored strategies for success.

Before joining the Law Office of Camiel Becker, Rie served as a Judicial Law Clerk at the Van Nuys Immigration Court and worked on civil rights and international human rights litigation as a fellow with UCLA School of Law’s Human Rights Litigation Clinic and with Schonbrun Seplow Harris Hoffman & Zeldes LLP. She also worked with international organizations including Human Rights Watch, the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration, and Asylum Link Merseyside.

Rie earned her B.A. in International Development Studies from Brown University and her J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where she specialized in Critical Race Studies, International Law, and Public Interest Law. In 2015, she was a Fulbright grantee.
